At this time, we Westerns ended up in a post-digital state of being: a chaotic and paradoxic world where it’s hard to find the difference between online and offline. Influences are always shifting, always in flux and everything is soaked in technology. And this is where we can start questioning authenticity within society: setting one’s image free, giving rise to hybrid versions and losing its sense of authenticity.

 

By trying to research the productive insecurities which ‘The Real Thing’ produced, I try to portray contrasts between the seemingly beloved adaptations of the post-digital society and the individual disturbance.
